Sharp Exchange Follows Court Verdict
Lahore: Television personality Iffat Omar has triggered fresh controversy after launching a strong public attack on anchor Iqrar Ul Hassan over his remarks on the high-profile defamation case involving Ali Zafar and Meesha Shafi.
The dispute intensified after Iqrar commented on the courtโs recent verdict, arguing that the financial penalty imposed on Meesha Shafi remained too small compared to the alleged emotional and professional damage suffered by Ali Zafar. Furthermore, he stressed that authorities must address false accusations firmly to protect the credibility of genuine harassment claims.
Social Media Reaction Intensifies
In response, Iffat Omar took to X (formerly Twitter) and posted a strongly worded message directly targeting Iqrar. She criticised his stance on womenโs rights and questioned his credibility as a television host. Moreover, she accused him of hypocrisy and used harsh language, alleging misconduct and raising controversial points about his personal life.
Consequently, her remarks quickly went viral, igniting widespread debate across social media platforms. While some users supported her outspoken stance, others criticised her tone and personal attacks, calling for more responsible discourse.
The ongoing legal battle between Ali Zafar and Meesha Shafi has remained one of Pakistanโs most discussed cases. Initially, Shafi accused Zafar of misconduct, which he consistently denied while pursuing legal action to defend his reputation. Meanwhile, Shafi maintained that her allegations aimed to highlight workplace harassment.
As the latest verdict brings renewed attention, the case continues to shape discussions around accountability, evidence and public discourse in sensitive matters.
