ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has acknowledged its mistake after Pakistan’s name was missing from the Champions Trophy logo during the live broadcast of the India vs Bangladesh match in Dubai.
During the second match of the tournament, viewers noticed that the logo displayed in the live coverage omitted the name of Pakistan, the host nation. This raised concerns among cricket fans, as the host country’s name is typically featured prominently in ICC event branding.
In contrast, the Champions Trophy logo in Karachi during the opening match had included Pakistan’s name as the host. However, during the match in Dubai, the logo displayed did not reflect Pakistan’s name, despite the tournament being hosted there.
An ICC spokesperson explained that the issue was caused by a technical glitch in the graphics, which would be corrected starting from the next broadcast. They clarified that the logo could not be updated mid-match but assured that future broadcasts would show the correct version.
The spokesperson also confirmed that Pakistan’s name was included in the Champions Trophy logo on ICC’s social media posts, with the issue only affecting the live broadcast graphics.
