Actor Sumona Chakravarti, known for her roles in popular Indian TV serials like Bade Acche Lagte Hain and sketch comedy shows such as Comedy Nights with Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show, is eager to explore new and diverse roles.
In a recent interview with a local Indian channel, Chakravarti, 36, shared her enthusiasm for tackling challenging characters, including villains and intelligence officers.
Chakravarti expressed a strong desire to venture into the fiction genre, particularly action, thrillers, and psychological thrillers, driven by her passion for crime and gore in digital content. โI want to do hardcore action, a thriller, or a psychological thriller because I love watching crime and gore on digital platforms. I would love to explore those genres and play a hardcore villain or an intelligence officer,โ she revealed.
She noted that actors often have a constant craving for diverse and stimulating roles to satisfy their creative desires. Chakravarti highlighted the rich opportunities available on OTT platforms and expressed hope that audiences and creators would embrace these new possibilities with her.
Chakravarti mentioned her admiration for internationally acclaimed shows such as Homeland, Fauda, and Killing Eve, particularly appreciating Villanelle from Killing Eve and Claire Danesโ performance in Homeland. She also praised Kiran Raoโs film Laapataa Ladies and Konkona Sen Sharmaโs role in Lust Stories 2, as examples of the kind of work she aspires to pursue.
Currently, Chakravarti is participating in season 14 of the reality stunt show Khatron Ke Khiladi. Reflecting on her experience filming the show in Romania, she described it as both โdifficult and painfulโ but also a โonce-in-a-lifetimeโ adventure. She emphasized that the unique stunts performed were unlike anything she could experience in Bollywood or Hollywood films, making it a memorable and challenging journey.
The show features participants such as Shilpa Shinde, Asim Riaz, Krishna Shroff, Shalin Bhanot, Abhishek Kumar, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, Karan Veer Mehra, Kedar Aashish Mehrotraa, Aditi Sharma, Gashmeer Mahajani, and Niyati Fatnani.
