ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has revised its curriculum for several degree programs, including Business and Management degree programs, following a comprehensive review by the National Curriculum Revision Committee (NCRC).
According to an official statement, the NCRC meeting was held at the Institute of Management Sciences (IMSciences) in Peshawar, where top academicians and subject experts from various universities participated. The HEC Curriculum Division facilitated the entire review process.
Updated Curriculum for Emerging Needs
The revised framework covers BBA, BS, MBA, EMBA, MS, and Associate Degree programs, ensuring alignment with emerging market trends, global standards, and industry expectations. Officials said the updated curriculum will enhance academic quality and practical relevance, providing a consistent learning structure across all higher education institutions.
Moreover, the curriculum update is designed to strengthen the link between theory and professional application, helping graduates meet the evolving needs of Pakistan’s business environment.
Alignment with National Frameworks
The HEC confirmed that the revision aligns with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and the HEC Undergraduate and Graduate Education Policies 2023. These policies aim to create cohesion, innovation, and quality assurance within higher education.
Leadership and Collaboration
The NCRC session was chaired by Dr. Naukhez Sarwar, Professor and Principal of NUST Business School, while Dr. Farooq-e-Azam Cheema, Provost of KSBL Karachi, served as Co-Convener. Hidayatullah Kasi, Deputy Director at HEC, acted as Secretary of the session.
HEC emphasized that the new curriculum reflects a collaborative effort between academia and industry to prepare future-ready business leaders for Pakistan’s growing economy.
