Winter Vacation Announced for Islamabad educational institutions

Winter Vacation

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has officially announced winter vacation, as confirmed by a notification issued by the Deputy Registrar following approval from Chief Justice Aamir Farooq. According to the notification, the IHC will remain closed for winter holidays from December 24, 2024, to January 8, 2025.

Simultaneously, schools and colleges in Islamabad have also finalized their winter vacation schedules. The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has announced that all educational institutions under its jurisdiction will observe holidays from December 28, 2024, to January 12, 2025, as per the academic calendar for 2024-25.

This two-week break is aimed at giving students and teachers a reprieve from their academic routines during the coldest period of the year, enabling a refreshed start for the next term.

Private schools in the federal capital will observe their winter break from December 21, 2024, to January 5, 2025, as stated in a separate notification issued on Friday.

Classes in private institutions are scheduled to resume on January 6, 2025. The decision to implement these dates was taken keeping in view the seasonal weather conditions that affect the region during this time of the year.

Meanwhile, changes in the winter vacation schedules have also been announced in other provinces. In Punjab, the Department of School Education recently revised its winter vacation dates.

Instead of starting on December 20 as initially planned, winter break in schools across Punjab will now begin on December 23.

Schools will reopen on January 13, 2025, following the conclusion of the holiday period. This revised schedule applies to all public and private schools in the province.

In Sindh, the Education Department has confirmed that all government and private schools will observe winter holidays from December 21 to December 31, 2024. This uniform decision ensures that all educational institutions in Sindh, regardless of their type, adhere to the same vacation timeline.

These winter breaks offer a much-needed pause for students, educators, and judicial staff, fostering productivity and well-being as they prepare for the new year.
