ISLAMABAD: The Sindh government has announced revised school timings for the holy month of Ramazan, adjusting schedules for single and double-shift schools across the province.
Meanwhile, Punjab’s School Education Department has proposed reducing school hours, with final approval pending.
According to a notification issued by the Sindh Education Department on Thursday, primary schools operating in double shifts will follow these schedules: the first shift will run from 7:30 am to 11:30 am, and the second shift from 11:45 am to 2:45 pm. Single-shift primary schools will operate from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm.
On Fridays, timings will be shortened. For double-shift primary schools, the first shift will be from 7:30 am to 10:30 am, and the second from 11:45 am to 1:15 pm. Single-shift schools will operate from 8:00 am to 11:30 am.
For secondary, higher secondary, and elementary schools, double-shift institutions will observe the same hours as primary schools: 7:30 am to 11:30 am for the first shift and 11:45 am to 2:45 pm for the second. Single-shift schools will operate from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. On Fridays, the first double shift will end at 10:30 am, single-shift schools will close at 11:30 am, and the second double shift will continue until 1:15 pm.
These adjustments were made under the directives of Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to accommodate fasting students and staff.
In Punjab, the School Education Department has proposed a two-hour reduction in school hours during Ramazan.
According to the proposal, girls’ schools would operate from 7:30 am to 12:15 pm, while boys’ schools would run from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. Currently, school hours extend until 2:30 pm for boys and 2:45 pm for girls.
A final decision regarding Punjab’s revised school timings is expected after consultations with education authorities, with the new schedule likely to take effect from the start of Ramadan.
