Sibling Fee Discounts
The Private Schools Regulatory Authority (PRSA) has recently introduced a new mandate that requires all private schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to offer fee discounts to siblings attending the same institution.
This move is designed to make education more affordable for families with multiple children enrolled in private schools, ensuring that the financial burden is eased for such families.
According to the new directive, the minimum discount on fees for each sibling enrolled at the same school is set at 20%. This discount will apply to all siblings who are enrolled in any private educational institution within KP, regardless of the academic level they are attending, whether it be primary, middle, high, or higher secondary.
The policy covers both male and female students equally, ensuring that no gender discrimination occurs in the application of the fee reductions.
Furthermore, the PRSA has emphasized that all private schools must comply with a recent ruling from the Peshawar High Court regarding sibling fee discounts. This reinforces the legal backing of the policy and highlights the importance of its implementation.
The sibling discount is applicable to the second, third, and any additional children who are enrolled at the same private school, making it a far-reaching initiative that supports large families.
The regulation also mandates that private schools follow the guidelines outlined in Clause XV 4 of the Private Schools Regulatory Authority Rules 2018.
These rules provide the regulatory framework for private schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and are intended to ensure that educational institutions operate within the established norms of the region.
By enforcing these rules, the PRSA aims to promote fair pricing in the private education sector and provide equitable opportunities for all students, regardless of the number of siblings attending the same school.
This directive is expected to alleviate some of the financial challenges faced by families with multiple children attending private schools, ensuring that education remains accessible and affordable to all.
The PRSA’s new policy also aligns with its broader goal of regulating the private school sector in KP and ensuring that students receive a quality education at a reasonable cost.
