Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the establishment of Danish University, an applied sciences institution inspired by the success of Danish Schools. The university aims to gain global recognition and provide high-quality education to students.
Chairing a meeting of the Danish University Steering Committee, the prime minister emphasized that leading scholars and experts from around the world would be invited to contribute to the institution’s academic excellence.
He described the initiative as a milestone in shaping the future of Pakistan’s youth by offering exceptional educational opportunities. The estimated cost of the project is £190 million, and he underscored the importance of its timely completion, noting that Pakistan has never had an institution of this caliber before.
Regarding the funding, the prime minister stated that the £190 million had been deposited in the Supreme Court’s account. He expressed gratitude to the Chief Justice for acknowledging that the funds rightfully belong to the government and the people, granting full discretion over their use.
He also criticized the previous administration’s handling of the amount, calling it an act of dishonesty and mismanagement since it had been transferred to an account unrelated to Pakistan’s treasury.
