Pims OPD Opened After Over A Year: Better Departments Better Care

Last year the management of Bahria Town offered to carry out renovation of the OPD.

Outpatient department (OPD) of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on Thursday was opened for public.

The OPD was closed in February last year for renovation and later it remained closed due to spread of Covid-19.

“Finally, the renovation has been completed and now patients do not have to wait outside the building in the sizzling heat. Air conditioners have been installed on the ground floor but patients on the first floor are still suffering as air conditioners were not installed by the Public Works Department,” Pims Executive Director Dr. Minhaj-us-Siraj said

He said last year, the management of Bahria Town had offered to carry out renovation of the OPD.

On Thursday PTI Member National Assembly (MNA) Dr Seemi Bukhari, who is also member of the Standing Committee on Health inaugurated the OPD.

The media coordinator of Pims Dr Waseem Khuwaja said that all departmental OPDs were open and free medicines and testing facility was being provided to poor patients.

“People are requested to follow standard operating procedures so that they would not contract Covid-19 and become a source of its spread. People are advised to visit OPDs from 8 am to 2 pm,” he said.

Dean Prof Rizwan Taj, chairman Board of Governors Khawaja Saad Saleem and others were also present on the occasion.

Dr Taj said after opening of the OPD, more people will now be able to receive treatment.
