A team of surgeons in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, separated conjoined twin boys from Yemen on Thursday.
The surgical operation of the conjoined twin boys remained successful, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday.
Twins _ Salman and Abdullah, were born joined at the pelvis and abdomen. The twins shared a bladder and colon. They also had a sphincter defect and atrophy of the lower abdominal wall.
Saudi King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the operation of Syrian twins in Riyadh.


Doctors carried out twins operation at King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital in Riyadh. King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, also known as KSrelief funded the hospital.
A team of 35 doctors, specialists, and nurses participated in the delicate surgical procedures. The operation involved six stages that took eight hours.
The parents of the twins thanked the Saudi leadership and medical team for helping their sons.
They also expressed their gratitude for the warm hospitality they received from everyone involved in caring for the boys.
KSrelief’s Conjoined Twins Program has funded 55 separation operations for children belonging to 23 countries.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia covers all costs for treatment and care. Saudis also provide transportation and accommodation for the patients, and their families.
