Senior Hamas official Izzat al-Risheq has confirmed that the Palestinian resistance group will not participate in the official signing of the ceasefire agreement. Speaking to media sources, al-Risheq described any suggestion of removing Hamas members from Gaza as “absurd” and emphasized the group’s continued presence and influence within the territory.
Al-Risheq warned that in the event hostilities resume, Hamas would launch a full-scale response. He highlighted the organization’s readiness to use all available strength and resources to defend Gaza and support its population, underlining its commitment to Palestinian resistance.
The Hamas leader also stated that the group remains in active communication with multiple friendly countries to ensure that humanitarian aid and essential resources reach the people of Gaza. Al-Risheq stressed that coordination with these international partners is critical to addressing ongoing challenges caused by the recent conflict.
He added that while Hamas respects ceasefire arrangements, the organization will not compromise its position or authority within Gaza. The leader’s remarks underline the group’s determination to maintain control over security and political affairs, emphasizing that any attempts to diminish its role would be strongly opposed.
Al-Risheq further indicated that Hamas is monitoring developments closely and is prepared to respond strategically should violations of the ceasefire occur. He reaffirmed that the group’s priority remains the protection of civilians, the delivery of humanitarian assistance, and the assertion of Palestinian rights amid a volatile regional environment.
The comments come amid heightened tensions in the region following the recent conflict between Hamas and Israeli forces. Al-Risheq’s statements signal that while a ceasefire may temporarily reduce hostilities, Hamas remains vigilant and fully prepared to act if conditions deteriorate, maintaining its stance as a central actor in Gaza’s political and military landscape.
The organization’s continued coordination with allied nations also reflects its broader strategy to balance military preparedness with efforts to secure aid and diplomatic support for Gaza’s reconstruction and civilian needs.
