The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has officially launched the application process for Hajj 2026, with the collection of initial dues beginning on Monday, August 4. This announcement marks the formal start of preparations for one of the most significant religious pilgrimages for Muslims in Pakistan.
According to ministry spokesperson Muhammad Umar Butt, aspiring pilgrims can submit their applications through designated partner banks or by using the ministry’s official online portal. The registration process will operate on a “first-come, first-served” basis, initially prioritizing those who are already registered in the ministry’s database.
These pre-registered applicants must deposit their first instalment of Hajj dues between August 4 and August 9 to confirm their participation. After this initial phase, subject to the availability of seats, new applicants will be invited to apply from August 11 to August 16. However, the ministry has warned that the collection of Hajj dues will cease immediately once the allocated quota is filled.
The estimated cost of the Hajj 2026 package ranges between Rs1.15 million and Rs1.25 million, and it includes all essential services, such as accommodation, transportation, meals, and the mandatory sacrificial offering (Dam-e-Shukr).
The spokesperson also confirmed that the second instalment of the payment will be collected starting November 1. Applicants are encouraged to complete all necessary steps in a timely manner to avoid losing their chance due to limited seat availability.
In a major policy shift aimed at increasing inclusivity, the ministry has eliminated previous restrictions, such as the upper age limit and the bar on performing Hajj multiple times. This means that more individuals, including senior citizens and repeat pilgrims, will now have the opportunity to perform Hajj.
However, certain eligibility criteria remain. For instance, children born after March 1, 2014, will not be permitted to apply for Hajj 2026.
The ministry has urged all interested pilgrims to act promptly and complete their applications within the prescribed dates to secure their seats.
