PCB confirms suspension as Greater Manchester Police launch probe during Shaheens’ England tour
Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali has been suspended from all cricket-related activities by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after being named in a criminal investigation in the United Kingdom.
According to official details, the Greater Manchester Police arrested Haider Ali three days ago in connection with an incident that reportedly occurred during the recent Pakistan Shaheens tour of England. He was later released on bail but has been ordered to reappear in court within two weeks. Authorities have also restricted him from leaving the UK until the case reaches a resolution.
Haider Ali Denies Allegations
In a brief statement, Haider Ali denied all allegations, calling them “false and baseless.” The nature of the charges has not yet been disclosed publicly, as the investigation remains active.
The PCB confirmed that Haider has been offered legal assistance and stressed its respect for the UK’s legal system and due process. The board added that it is closely monitoring the situation and will make further decisions based on the outcome of the investigation.
PCB Takes Disciplinary Action
The PCB, while announcing the suspension, emphasised that Haider Ali will not participate in any cricketing activities—domestic or international—until the matter is fully resolved. The board described the case as “serious” and reiterated its commitment to transparency and upholding the integrity of Pakistan cricket.
“We recognise the gravity of the situation. The PCB remains committed to upholding the values of professionalism and discipline that the sport demands,” the statement read.
This development adds to the challenges facing the Pakistan team as it prepares for upcoming international fixtures. Haider Ali, once regarded as a promising talent in Pakistan’s T20 squad, now faces an uncertain future pending the outcome of the legal proceedings.
