In a major relief move, the federal government has waived electricity bills for August 2025 for over 2.5 million household consumers in flood-affected areas across the country, providing financial assistance worth more than Rs17 billion.
According to sources in the Power Division, the exemption applies to consumers from key regions including Gujranwala, Peshawar, Multan, Lahore, Faisalabad, Islamabad, and parts of the tribal areas.
Breakdown of waived bills by region:

Gujranwala Electric Supply Company (GEPCO): 1.5 million consumers

Officials added that a survey is currently underway to assess eligible flood-affected consumers under Sukkur Electric Supply Company (SEPCO) for possible future relief.
This move is part of the government’s broader response to support citizens impacted by the recent severe flooding, which caused widespread disruption and damage across multiple provinces.
