Islamabad has moved quickly to help thousands of Pakistanis living in Spain. The government decided to issue passports on a fast-track basis so that our people can complete their legalisation process in time.
Passports to be ready one week before registration
The meeting decided that passports and other important documents will reach Pakistanis in Spain at least one week before the registration for legalisation begins. This step will help them avoid any last-minute rush or problems.
Mohsin Naqvi gave strict instructions that no criminal or wanted person should get a passport under any circumstances. On top of that, the National Police Bureau has made the verification of character certificates much simpler and quicker. Police now issue these certificates on priority basis.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain told the meeting that around 15,000 Pakistanis will benefit from this Spanish scheme. He thanked the Interior Ministry for giving full support to Pakistanis living in Spain.
All departments working together
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, senior secretaries, DG FIA, NADRA officials and other key people joined the meeting in Islamabad. Pakistanโs Ambassador to Spain Dr Zahoor Ahmed, Consul General in Barcelona Muhammad Ali Wazir and the Community Welfare Attachรฉ attended through Zoom.
Moreover, the ambassador and consul general gave a detailed briefing. They informed everyone that the embassy and consulate have already issued authority letters to ten thousand people. All institutions are now working side by side to make sure every necessary document reaches on time.
Overall, the pace of issuing character certificates and passports has picked up noticeably in the last few days. This fast-track process brings real hope that they can finally legalise their stay without unnecessary delays.
