ISLAMABAD: Senator Syed Shibli Faraz, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and former prime minister Imran Khan’s chief of staff, issued a caution on Wednesday, saying that the federal government would be held responsible for any acts of violence or terrorism against Imran Khan or any other attendee of the party’s rallies and protests.
Shibli, who shared information about security threats related to PTI’s political activities from the Ministry of the Interior on his Twitter account, wrote: โPTIโs protests and marches are always peaceful as families participate. It is incumbent on the ICT police and administration to provide foolproof security, any violence or terrorist attack on any participant and especially Imran Khan, the federal government would be held responsibleโ.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, senior vice president of PTI, Tweeted: โEstablishment need to realize 66% of Pak population is under 28, growing middle class and internet access has changed the ground rule, close door rules have become redundant. Course correction is the way forward, Establishment role is important but sovereignty belongs to the peopleโ.
He claimed that the closed-door rulesย had become obsolete. He stated that the only way forward is to change course.
