Islamabad/Dubai: Pakistanis can now apply for short-term Schengen visas to Sweden directly from Islamabad, as Sweden has officially resumed visa services at its embassy in Pakistan’s capital.
This welcome development, announced by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will make travel easier for Pakistani citizens planning short visits—up to 90 days—to Sweden or other Schengen countries.
The decision follows the 19th round of Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) between Pakistan and Sweden, held on July 2 in Stockholm. These high-level talks aimed to strengthen diplomatic ties and expand cooperation between the two nations.
Visa services officially resumed on July 7, marking a significant step forward in bilateral relations.
A spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Office stated, “Pakistan welcomes this positive development, which reflects the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.”
The Pakistani delegation at the BPC was led by Ambassador Muhammad Ayub, Additional Foreign Secretary for Europe. The Swedish side was represented by the Director General for Global Affairs from Sweden’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the consultations, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in key areas, including the green transition, digitization, sustainable technologies, and information and communication technology (ICT). They also exchanged views on a range of bilateral, regional, and global issues.
