The Gaza government has estimated that direct losses across 15 vital sectors surpassed $33 billion during 2025, as the consequences of the ongoing Israeli war against Palestinians continue to deepen. According to a statement released Wednesday by the Government Media Office, the scale of destruction reflects two years of sustained attacks that have severely undermined Gazaโs economic and social foundations.
Officials reported that the agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sectors suffered near-total collapse. Approximately 178,000 dunams of land, representing more than 80 percent of Gazaโs agricultural area, sustained damage. Meanwhile, vegetable cultivation areas sharply declined from 93,000 dunams to just 4,000 dunams. In addition, Israeli attacks destroyed around 1,000 agricultural wells and devastated nearly 500 cattle, sheep, and poultry farms. As a result, food production capacity dropped to unprecedented levels, increasing reliance on external aid.
At the same time, infrastructure and public services endured extensive losses. The statement confirmed the destruction of more than 700 water wells, 3,080 kilometres of electricity lines, and roughly 400 kilometres of water and sewage networks. Furthermore, Israeli forces demolished around 2,000 kilometres of roads, severely restricting transportation and emergency access across the territory.
Health, education, and cultural institutions targeted
The Government Media Office also detailed heavy damage to public institutions. Israeli attacks razed 150 government buildings and destroyed 250 sports and cultural facilities. Moreover, strikes targeted archaeological and historical sites, erasing significant elements of Gazaโs cultural heritage.
In the health sector, authorities reported that Israeli forces disabled 22 hospitals during 2025. In addition, attacks targeted 211 ambulances and 23 civil defence vehicles, significantly weakening emergency medical response. Consequently, healthcare delivery deteriorated amid overwhelming demand.
Education faced similar devastation. Officials said that 95 percent of schools sustained damage, with 30 institutions completely destroyed and 39 partially damaged. The attacks killed more than 1,000 students, along with 88 teachers and 45 academics. Meanwhile, religious sites were not spared, as Israeli strikes completely destroyed 34 mosques, partially damaged 100 others, and repeatedly targeted three churches.
The statement further emphasized that 21 of Gazaโs 60 cemeteries were destroyed. Overall, Israel reportedly used more than 112,000 tonnes of explosives, destroying 90 percent of Gazaโs infrastructure and forcibly seizing 55 percent of the territory through military action.
