ISLAMABAD: The possibility of a gas price hike has emerged across Pakistan as both SNGPL and SSGC requested higher tariffs for 2025–26. The companies filed their applications with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra). Hearings will take place on November 7 for SNGPL and November 11 for SSGC.
Proposed gas rates and averages
SNGPL has applied to raise the price of gas by Rs189 per mmBtu. SSGC has sought an increase of Rs125.41 per mmBtu. Moreover, SNGPL proposed an average price of Rs1,955.50 per mmBtu for the upcoming year. SSGC requested an average of Rs1,658.56 per mmBtu.
Revenue needs and financial gaps
SNGPL estimated its financial requirements for the current year at over Rs5.295bn. SSGC projected funding needs exceeding Rs2.4bn. SNGPL cited a Rs582m shortfall under the LPG Airmax project subsidy. SSGC also sought recovery of Rs3.425bn related to previous losses.
