Former Chief of Army Staff, General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, was taken to the intensive care unit (ICU) following a head injury caused by a fall at his home. Family sources confirmed the accident, noting that it happened around 4:30 am.
According to relatives, Bajwa fell in the bathroom of his house. He sustained a serious head injury and is currently under close medical supervision in the ICU. The family expressed hope for his recovery while requesting privacy during this time.
Distinguished Military Career
General Bajwa served as Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff from 2016 until his retirement on November 29, 2022. Before assuming the top military post, he held several key positions across the Pakistan Army.
He served at the General Headquarters (GHQ) as Inspector General of Training and Evaluation. Additionally, he held important positions in the 10 Corps as a lieutenant colonel, serving as a General Staff Officer (GSO). These roles helped shape his strategic and operational expertise within the army.
Bajwa also commanded troops overseas. He served as a brigade commander in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Moreover, he held the position of Commandant at the Infantry School in Quetta, where he oversaw the training of officers and troops.
