Pakistan to Push for Full Israeli Withdrawal and Gaza Reconstruction at Talks
ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar will travel to Istanbul on Monday for a one-day visit to attend the Coordination Meeting of Arab-Islamic Foreign Ministers, the Foreign Office (FO) announced on Sunday.
The meeting, hosted by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, will focus on the implementation of the Gaza Peace Agreement and regional efforts to strengthen the ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
According to the FO statement, Pakistan will use the platform to urge full enforcement of the truce and demand Israel’s complete withdrawal from the Occupied Palestinian Territories, particularly Gaza. Islamabad will also emphasize the importance of providing unrestricted humanitarian aid and launching a comprehensive reconstruction plan for the war-torn region.
“Pakistan will call for unfettered humanitarian assistance to Palestinians and the reconstruction of Gaza,” the FO confirmed, reiterating the country’s continued commitment to peace efforts in the Middle East.
Pakistan will also reaffirm its long-standing support for the creation of an independent, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital, based on pre-1967 borders and in line with UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
“Pakistan has been, and will continue to be, committed to restoring peace, justice, and dignity to the Palestinian people and ensuring their right to self-determination,” the statement added.
The Gaza ceasefire agreement — signed on October 9 — includes the release of captives and prisoners and the delivery of humanitarian aid after years of devastating conflict. The deal was reached under a peace initiative led by U.S. President Donald Trump, with Egypt, Qatar, and Turkiye acting as guarantors.
Pakistan has actively participated in peace efforts alongside Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Indonesia, and Turkiye, aiming to achieve a comprehensive and lasting peace in Gaza and across the region.
