Preparations for Pakistanโs federal budget for fiscal year 2025โ26 are progressing steadily, with Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal affirming that the budget will be unveiled on June 10.
Speaking to reporters informally on Thursday, Bosal said the dates for the Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) and the National Economic Council (NEC) meetings have yet to be finalized. However, he confirmed that the budget timeline itself remains unchanged.
In a separate development, Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad reiterated via his official X account that the budget will be announced on June 10, 2025, as previously planned. He also stated that the Pakistan Economic Survey for FY25 is set to be released on June 9, 2025.
Meanwhile, virtual discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are set to resume today. Both sides are working to align fiscal policies with Pakistanโs ongoing economic reform agenda.
โIn these IMF discussions, we aim to explore relief measures for the salaried class and policies to stimulate industrial growth,โ Bosal noted. He added that the government is closely coordinating with the IMF to finalize fiscal targets and potential adjustments for sustainable economic development.
Earlier reports had suggested that the government was considering postponing the budget announcement. With Eidul Adha holidays falling on June 7 and 8, authorities indicated that June 9 might be designated a working day to ensure the budget presentation proceeds as scheduled.
The NEC meeting and the release of the economic survey are both planned for June 9. However, officials noted that conducting both events on the same day may prove challenging, especially since a two-day gap is typically maintained between the NEC meeting and the budget presentation to finalize development allocations.
