
ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb left Islamabad on Saturday for the United States. He will attend the World Bank Group and IMF Spring Meetings 2026 in Washington, D.C., from April 13 to 18.
Before the main sessions begin, the minister will visit Boston to take part in the Pakistan Conference at Harvard University. There he will meet leading academics, policymakers, and members of the Pakistani diaspora. He plans to share Pakistanโs positive economic outlook, ongoing reforms, and future growth prospects.
Minister Holds High-Level Talks with Global Financial Leaders
During his visit, Mr. Aurangzeb will be participating in a series of significant multilateral as well as bilateral discussions. He will meet with senior members of the World Bank, such as Anna Bjerde, who is the managing director for operations. The representatives of other bodies such as the International Finance Corporation and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency will also attend these meetings.
Additionally, he will have consultations with high-ranking officials of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), such as Dan Katz, the first deputy managing director, Nigel Clarke, the deputy managing director, and Jihad Azour, who is the director of the Middle East and Central Asia.
Moving ahead to these critical discussions, the minister will then participate in important bilateral meetings with senior officials of the US state department, Treasury, and Jamieson Greer, the US trade representative. Moreover, he will have discussions with senior officials of Citibank, JP Morgan Chase, Franklin Templeton, and Rothschild & Co.
