FIFA has lifted its suspension on the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) after the PFF Congress approved constitutional amendments required by the global football governing body and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), officials confirmed on Sunday.
“The Bureau of the FIFA Council decided on March 2, 2025, to lift the suspension imposed on the PFF on February 6, 2025,” FIFA stated.
The decision followed the unanimous approval of a revised PFF Constitution, validated by FIFA and the AFC, meeting the conditions set by the Bureau in its earlier ruling.
Shahid Khokhar, a member of the PFF Normalization Committee, confirmed to Geo News that Pakistan is now eligible to resume international football activities.
“The suspension has been lifted following the successful outcome of the PFF Extraordinary Congress on February 27,” Khokhar said. “We appreciate FIFA and AFC’s continued support and congratulate the entire Pakistan football community.”
With the suspension lifted, the PFF’s full membership rights under FIFA statutes have been restored, allowing Pakistan’s national and club teams to compete in international tournaments once again.
FIFA initially suspended Pakistan in February after PFF Congress members rejected the proposed constitutional amendments, which were aimed at ensuring a transparent election process. However, in a follow-up meeting on February 27, the Congress approved the changes, paving the way for the reinstatement.
