ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency has put together a complete database of people involved in human smuggling. It has also included their facilitators. FIA Director General Dr Usman Anwar said this on Saturday.
He gave the update during a detailed briefing to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at FIA headquarters. Dr Anwar told the minister that agency has also set up a clear and strong accountability system inside the organisation. Working groups and coordination committees with other law enforcement agencies are now being formed.
He added that the FIA is using modern technology. It aims to crack down on immigration-related crimes, human smuggling, and money laundering.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, while speaking at the meeting, ordered a full-scale crackdown on corruption in government departments. He directed the FIA to follow the prime ministerโs vision of zero tolerance against corruption in all public sector organisations.
Naqvi also said the ongoing reform process in the FIA will be completed by December this year. He instructed the agency to keep a close watch on all online advertisements offering jobs abroad. He also told them to make sure the public is properly warned about fake and misleading ads.
The minister made it clear that the FIA should become the main force fighting organised crime. He also assured full government support to the agency at every level.
During his visit, Naqvi inspected the ongoing construction and infrastructure work at FIA headquarters. He told officials to finish the projects as quickly as possible.
In the last four months of 2025, the FIA took action against 214 of its own officials. These cases were related to complaints of human trafficking and corruption. The agency dismissed 76 officials, demoted nine, sacked two, and punished 127 others.
