ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched a targeted initiative against unregistered wealthy individuals, including non-filers and those declaring zero income, following a directive from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
As part of this enforcement plan, the FBR’s field formations will begin by issuing notices to 5,000 identified non-filers in the first phase. These individuals collectively owe an estimated Rs7 billion in taxes.
The selection process is based on an extensive analysis of transaction data involving approximately 200,000 non-filers.
The initial group includes individuals with substantial assets, such as ownership of at least three vehicles and significant bank account profits.
The FBR is set to monitor the progress of these notices through a dedicated dashboard, emphasizing its resolve to combat tax evasion and enhance revenue collection.
