ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has warned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of a strong response reminiscent of the 1965 war if India attempts any misadventure against Pakistan.
“Step forward if you dare; we will respond just as we did in 1965,” Fazlur Rehman declared while addressing the National Palestine and Defence of Pakistan Conference at Minar-e-Pakistan Ground in Lahore.
He criticized India for using the Pahalgam incident as a pretext to issue threats against Pakistan, calling out New Delhi’s aggressive rhetoric.
Turning his attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Fazlur Rehman condemned Israeli atrocities, saying the Palestinian people are heroically fighting for the freedom of their homeland. He highlighted that over 50,000 Palestinians have been martyred and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.
“When Pakistan was founded, the existence of Israel was deemed illegitimate,” he said, condemning Israel for massacring children under the false pretext of self-defense and accusing it of committing genocide against Palestinians.
Citing international law, he pointed out the double standards of global justice, noting that although the International Court of Justice has ordered the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, he remains free, while Saddam Hussein was executed for the alleged killing of a few hundred people.
Earlier, China reaffirmed its support for Pakistan in the wake of the Pahalgam incident and called for a fair and impartial investigation. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during which they discussed regional tensions following the Pahalgam event.
China expressed solidarity with Pakistan and stressed the importance of objective inquiry into the incident, according to official details of the call.
