Maryam Nawaz, vice president of the PML-N, is expected to go to London today after the Islamabad High Court reversed her sentence, according to a report from Geo News on Wednesday.
Two weeks are expected for Maryam’s stay in London. The PML-N leader, according to sources, would board a private airline this morning at 10 am and leave the Lahore airport later.
According to sources close to her family, Maryam will visit her father, Nawaz Sharif, in Pakistan again. She will receive a medical examination while she is in London, according to sources.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was directed by the LHC on October 3 to return the PML-N leader’s passport. After being granted bail in a corruption investigation in 2019, she turned in her passport.
The PML-N leader had appealed to the LHC about the anti-graft organisation, saying that despite the lack of any charges or a trial against her, she had been unable to exercise her constitutional rights for four years.
She had pleaded with the court to order the deputy registrar to restore her passport in the interest of justice, saying she had an urgent need to travel abroad to care for and get information on her ailing father.
She arrived on Tuesday at the LHC location, and on October 4 she was given her passport in the deputy registrar’s office.
