Faheem Ashraf Registers Career-Best T20I Figures in UAE Tri-Series Clash Against Afghanistan
Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf delivered a standout performance in the ongoing UAE T20I Tri-Series, recording his career-best bowling figures in T20 Internationals during Pakistan’s match against Afghanistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Despite Afghanistan posting a strong 100-plus run partnership, Faheem’s four-wicket haul helped Pakistan restrict their opponents to 169/5—a competitive but manageable total.
Ashraf Breaks Crucial 113-Run Stand
Afghanistan had a rocky start after Rahmanullah Gurbaz fell early for just 8 runs, dismissed by Saim Ayub in the second over. However, Ibrahim Zadran and Sediqullah Atal staged a solid comeback with a massive second-wicket partnership of 113 runs, putting Pakistan on the back foot.
The breakthrough came in the 16th over when Faheem Ashraf had Atal caught at long-on. He continued his impact by removing both Azmatullah Omarzai and Ibrahim Zadran in the very next over. In the final over of the innings, Ashraf dismissed veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi for just 6, wrapping up a superb spell of pace bowling.
Faheem’s Best-Ever T20I Spell
Ashraf ended the match with figures of 4/27 from his four overs—his best-ever bowling performance in T20 Internationals. This also marked his first four-wicket haul in the format since making his T20I debut back in 2017.
According to ESPNcricinfo, the 31-year-old now has 46 wickets in 60 T20Is at an average of 26.32 and an economy rate of 7.75. In all T20 cricket, he has accumulated 230 wickets, further underlining his consistency and value as a death-overs specialist.
Faheem’s efforts played a pivotal role in regaining momentum for Pakistan during a match that looked to be slipping away midway through the Afghan innings.
