ISLAMABAD: The two-year-long Facebook friendship between a US flight attendant and a Pakistani boy led to their marriage as Mindy reached Pakistan for their wedding ceremony.
An American girl, Mindy arrived in Pakistan to marry Sajid Zeb Khan, a resident of Usheri Dara in Upper Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They met online through Facebook two years ago and developed a strong bond that eventually led to their marriage plan.
Sajid welcomed Mindy at Islamabad International Airport, and the two traveled together to his hometown in Upper Dir, where the local community warmly received her. Mindy, a flight attendant based in Chicago, expressed admiration for the beauty and peace of Pakistan during her first visit.
Speaking to the media, Sajid shared that their relationship began on Facebook and blossomed over time. He said it was Mindy who proposed, and after mutual agreement, both informed their families about their intention to marry.
Sajid also told local police that they did not require security arrangements, as their wedding would be held soon. The nikah ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday and will be conducted according to Islamic traditions and local customs.
In a video message recorded at Sajid’s home, Mindy introduced herself and said, “My name is Mindy and I’m from America. I’m here in Pakistan for the first time. It’s a very beautiful, peaceful country. I came for Sajid Khan and we plan to marry soon.”
The couple’s story has garnered attention both locally and online, highlighting the power of cross-cultural connections through social media.
