Multiple loud blasts were heard over Jerusalem on Saturday morning by AFP journalists. The blasts reportedly came just minutes after the Israeli military announced they detected missiles being fired from Iran.
Hours earlier, Israel had initiated another wave of airstrikes against Tehran. Tensions between Israel and Iran have now been escalated even further.
In addition, Israeli air defenses were scrambled immediately after radar detected missiles flying towards the country. Air raid sirens were sounded throughout the capital and surrounding region, urging citizens to seek shelter. Reportedly, the explosions caused windows to shake kilometers away. No casualties or damage have been reported due to the blasts in Jerusalem, but updates will be provided as they come.
Additonally, tensions began earlier in the day after Israel confirmed they had finished airstrikes on Iranian targets in Tehran. Earlier, Iran had threatened to respond if their land was attacked.
As such, residents in the city described widespread panic amongst citizens this otherwise routine Saturday. First responders are on alert as the military has not yet released statements regarding if the missiles were intercepted or details on what exactly happened.
