ISLAMABAD: Usman Mirza gang of Islamabad appeared in serious trouble as the police have added more sections in this case that may lead to life imprisonment or capital punishment for the gangsters.

In recent days, Islamabad police have included Pakistan Penal Code sections 375A, 375D, 384, 342, 114, 395, 496A and 377B in FIR. These include Section 375-A, 375-D (rape), 384 (punishment for extortion), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 114 (abettor present when offence is committed), 395 (punishment for dacoity); 496-A (enticing or taking away or detaining with criminal intent a woman) and 377-B (sexual abuse).

The 375D section of PPC is applicable to gang-rape which envisages death sentence and imprisonment from 10 years to 25 years. Section 384 deals with extortion of money, exploitation and 3-year imprisonment and fine or both can be awarded to the gangsters. Meanwhile, section 342 is applicable in forced detention of citizens for which one-year jail, fine or both can be awarded to the criminals. Section 395 deals with dacoities and the accused involved can face life term in jail along with 10-year rigorous imprisonment. Further, 7-year imprisonment can be awarded to gangsters under 496-A section for detaining and harassing woman.

Usman Mirza gang is involved in extortion, harassment of a couple, Eman and her husband. Gangsters not only extorted money from the girl but also made her naked video, uploaded it on social media, tortured the couple.

When Usman Mirza was arrested in this case, before going to lock-up, he uploaded a video, telling people that he was going to jail for 15 days only and will be back soon with the help of property dealers and other friends who will support him in this case.

However, things have changed after Prime Minister Imran Khan’s meeting with the Inspector General of Islamabad Police as the government has decided to make this case as a test case to ensure the gangsters get an exemplary punishment for the crimes that they committed and made viral on social media.

Usman Mirza gang incident came to limelight with a video showing a group of men, led by Usman Mirza — the key suspect — holding a couple at gunpoint, forcing them to strip and then beating them up. Moreover, the suspects also abused the couple verbally and physically by doing vulgar acts.

The FIR of the case was registered on July 6 on behalf of sub-inspector Syed Asim Ghafar, after which some of the suspects were traced and arrested. According to FIR, the incident took place within Golra police station jurisdiction at an apartment in sector E-11/2.

Six suspects have been detained in the case so far, while police are conducting raids to arrest two more accused involved in this horrible case. During interrogation, police officials have recovered more objectionable videos from the cellphones of Usman Mirza and his accomplices.
