LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: The federal and provincial governments have issued threat alerts about possible attacks on the Press Clubs nationwide.
The Lahore Press Club has disclosed this disturbing development through a notice for its members and media entities.
According to the LPC notice, the club has banned the entry of non-members.
Meanwhile, the National Press Club in Islamabad has decided to close the Club by midnight, setting aside its tradition of keeping the club open throughout the night.
The Lahore Press Club, therefore, urged its members and others to cooperate with the management and abide by the measures being taken for the safety of the members and the club.
Zahid Abid, secretary of the Lahore Press Club issued a notice to alert members of the club about the threat alerts issued by the federal and provincial governments for the press clubs in the country.
Meanwhile, four senior journalists have been nominated as members of the Press Council of Pakistan for a 3-year term.
The federal government has nominated four senior journalists _ Aamir Latif, Bachal Leghari, Nasir Zaidi, and Moin Azhar as members of the Press Council of Pakistan (PCP) for a three-year term, according to an official notification.
They will serve as members of the PCP from August 2, 2024, to August 2027.
Aamir Latif shared the notification of his nomination as a member of the Press Council of Pakistan. Arshad Khan Jadoon, chairman of the PCP signed the notification on August 5, 2024.
