Pakistan Marks First Honey Export to Malaysia, Opening New Markets for KP’s Honey Industry

Pakistan has achieved a major milestone with the successful export of its first shipment of berry honey to Malaysia, marking a significant step forward in the country’s agricultural exports. This achievement was facilitated through the efforts of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), showcasing Pakistan’s growing role as a reliable honey supplier on the global market.

The Ministry of Commerce is actively working to expand international markets for Pakistani honey, with the Pakistan High Commission in Kuala Lumpur playing a key role in fostering business connections between Pakistani and Malaysian companies.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s honey industry, which produces 20,000 tons of honey annually from 60,000 honey farms, supports the livelihoods of approximately 1.6 million people. The sector is bolstered by a strong infrastructure of bee clusters and processing facilities.

To further strengthen the industry, experts are being consulted on potential investments in bee clusters and processing facilities. A proposal to establish a dedicated “Honey Board” is also under consideration to boost export capabilities.

This successful export initiative reflects the SIFC’s ongoing efforts to drive Pakistan’s economic growth through strategic agricultural exports, opening up new opportunities for the country’s honey industry.
