Erika Jayne, widely recognized for her role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, has made a celebrated return to Broadway, reprising her role as Roxie Hart in the legendary musical Chicago.
The 53-year-old star originally debuted as Roxie in 2020, but her run was cut short due to the pandemic. Now, she’s back for a three-week engagement that began on January 20 and will continue through February 9. The announcement of her return was shared in December via a joint Instagram post by Jayne and the official Chicago The Musical account, urging fans to secure their tickets.
After her opening-night performance, Jayne took to Instagram to thank her 2.6 million followers, posting, “Thank you to everyone that came to the show tonight!” accompanied by a red heart emoji.
Reflecting on her comeback, Jayne described the role of Roxie Hart as feeling like “coming home” and noted that it holds a deeply personal connection for her.
To drum up excitement for her return, Jayne shared a polished rendition of Chicago‘s signature number, “Roxie,” in a promotional video, showcasing her refined performance skills.
In an interview with Playbill, Jayne shared her enthusiasm for revisiting the role, saying, “This time, I’m exploring the nuances I missed before.” She joked, “I’ve even been thinking about the placement of my hands for five years!”
Jayne’s performance comes at a tumultuous time in her personal life, as her ex-husband, Tom Girardi, was recently convicted of embezzling $15 million from his clients. She humorously acknowledged the parallels between Roxie Hart’s legal troubles and her own, quipping, “Let’s just say there might be some similarities.”
Despite the challenges, Jayne’s return to the stage has been met with enthusiasm, marking a triumphant moment in her career.
