The President of Tรผrkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has issued a stern warning regarding the rising threat of instability in the region. Erdogan, during an iftar party in Ankara on Tuesday, said, โIsrael’s increasing military operations are no longer just about security, but they are taking the region into a disaster.โ
Growing fears over regional escalation
Moreover, Erdogan pointed to Israelโs operations across multiple fronts, including Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, and more recently Iran. He argued that these actions reflect a broader strategy that risks intensifying conflict rather than containing it. According to him, the situation is becoming increasingly dangerous as violence spreads across borders.
In addition, Erdogan criticized what he described as an attitude of superiority within Israelโs leadership. He said such an approach is contributing to decisions that escalate tensions and deepen instability. As a result, he warned that the region could face long-term consequences if the current trajectory continues unchecked.
He spoke of civilians, particularly children, being caught in violence, with families forced to leave homes they have lived in for generations. These developments, he said, are worsening an already fragile humanitarian situation.
Concerns grow over religious restrictions and humanitarian impact
Meanwhile, Erdogan also spoke out on the restriction of access to Al-Aqsa Mosque, saying, “This mosque has been closed for more than two weeks for Muslims.” He also warned that such moves are a “violation of religious freedoms.”
Additionally, Erdogan emphasized that such moves, which restrict access to these holy sites in such a volatile situation, are liable to stir up religious sentiments. This, coupled with the military operations, has the potential to further divide the people and prolong the conflict.
In this regard, Tรผrkiye has continued to express stern criticism of Israelโs moves, asserting itself as a major player in the region, urging restraint.
