Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant recently wed in a lavish three-day celebration in Mumbai, attended by celebrities and political figures.
The extravagant affair, preceded by months of opulent pre-wedding events, included performances by Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Justin Bieber.
The total cost of the wedding festivities, including pre-wedding parties and fees for celebrity performances, is estimated at $600 million, as reported by The Guardian. This figure, while substantial, represents a fraction of the estimated $123 billion net worth of Anant’s father, Mukesh Ambani, according to Forbes.
The celebrations kicked off with pre-wedding festivities at the Ambani Estate in Gujarat, featuring Rihanna’s performance for a reported $6 million. The events also included a jungle-themed party and a drone light show with 5,500 drones. High-profile guests in attendance ranged from Ivanka Trump to members of Bhutan’s royal family, alongside tech giants like Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates.
Earlier, the couple embarked on a lavish European cruise in May, hosting parties in cities like Rome and Cannes, featuring performances by Katy Perry, Andrea Bocelli, the Backstreet Boys, and Pitbull. The cruise and associated parties reportedly cost an additional $150 million.
For their sangeet in July, Anant and Radhika enlisted Justin Bieber for a performance valued at $10 million. The event featured hits like “Love Yourself” and “I’m the One,” with clips shared on social media showing enthusiastic guests.
The wedding itself took place over three days, with invitations featuring intricate designs depicting Hindu deities and including gifts and Hindu mantras. Anant sported a custom lion brooch with a massive diamond, while his mother adorned a 100-carat yellow diamond necklace.
The festivities also involved transforming the Jio World Convention Center into the waterfront steps of Varanasi, showcasing local artisans and cultural displays. The wedding ceremonies concluded at the Ambani family’s Mumbai residence, a towering structure with luxurious amenities.
Compared to his sister Isha’s 2018 wedding, which cost approximately $100 million, Anant’s nuptials exceeded expectations in terms of scale and expenditure, including the $6 million paid to Beyoncé for her performance during Isha’s wedding ceremony.
