Amazon founder Jeff Bezos recently shared insights into his morning routine, emphasizing how he prioritizes sleep and relaxation to manage his demanding roles as executive chairman of Amazon and owner of Blue Origin.
Speaking at an event organized by The Economic Club, Bezos disclosed details of his morning habits in a video that garnered attention.
“I go to bed early, wake up early, and enjoy puttering in the morning. I like to read the newspaper, have coffee, and eat breakfast with my kids before they head to school. My puttering time is essential, which is why I schedule my first meeting for 10am,” Bezos revealed.
He also highlighted his strategy of scheduling his most mentally challenging meetings, which he refers to as “high IQ meetings,” before lunch. “Anything that requires a lot of mental energy, that’s a 10am meeting. By 5pm, I can’t engage with such tasks effectively, so I prefer to revisit them fresh the next morning at 10am,” he explained.
Bezos stressed the importance of getting eight hours of sleep, noting its positive impact on his cognitive abilities, energy levels, and mood. “I think better, have more energy, and my mood improves,” he emphasized.
In response to Bezos’s routine, users on social media platform X shared varying perspectives. “Just get up, have some coffee, and start your day. Productivity isn’t about mimicking a billionaire’s routine but discovering what works best for you,” remarked one user, reflecting on the individualized nature of effective daily routines.
Bezos’s approach underscores the significance of personal habits in optimizing productivity and well-being, offering a glimpse into how he balances personal time with professional responsibilities.
