U.S. rapper Kanye West has arrived in Moscow for the birthday celebrations of fashion designer Gosha Rubchinsky.
This news comes after rumors last month suggested that West would perform a concert in Moscow.
Western artists have largely ceased performing in Russia following its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which prompted extensive U.S. and European sanctions on Moscow, along with travel restrictions.
Kanye West, who has sparked controversy with his political statements in the United States and was recently accused of praising Adolf Hitler, has previously expressed admiration for President Vladimir Putin.
“Kanye West is already in Moscow! This is great news, he is staying in the heart of the capital,” Russian television presenter Yana Rudkovskaya announced on social media, according to the state TASS news agency.
However, Luzhniki Stadium, where he was rumored to perform, told state media it does not have information about any possible concerts by the famous rapper.
