Ranbir Kapoor set to star in Dhoom 4; Abhishek Bachchan will not return

Ranbir Kapoor is celebrating his 42nd birthday today, and fans have some exciting news about his future projects.

Recent reports indicate that Ranbir is in talks to lead one of Bollywood’s most prominent franchises, ‘Dhoom 4’. This would mark his 25th film as an actor. The project, which is a reboot of the beloved ‘Dhoom’ series, is currently being developed by Yash Raj Films under Aditya Chopra.

Sources reveal that discussions with Ranbir have been ongoing for some time. One insider stated, “Ranbir has always been interested in joining ‘Dhoom 4’ after hearing the basic concept, and it’s now confirmed that he will take the lead. Adi Chopra believes Ranbir is the perfect fit to carry on the ‘Dhoom’ legacy.”

Unlike previous installments, none of the original cast members, including Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra, will be returning. Instead, the report suggests that two prominent stars from the younger generation will portray the cop duo in ‘Dhoom 4’.

With the core storyline finalized, the team is now moving into the casting phase. The report adds that ‘Dhoom 4’ aims to be the largest film in the series and a tentpole feature of global standards for Indian cinema.

The last entry in the ‘Dhoom’ franchise, released in 2013, featured Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan, and Uday Chopra, becoming a major box office success.

‘Dhoom 4’ is expected to begin filming by late 2025 or early 2026, coinciding with Ranbir’s milestone 25th film.

Ranbir was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s blockbuster ‘Animal’, and his upcoming projects include Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love & War’, where he will star alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
