Mini Mathur Reveals Reason Behind Quitting Hosting Indian Idol, calls the Show ‘fake’

Mini Mathur, who hosted the first six seasons of Indian Idol, recently revealed that she quit hosting the singing reality show because of personal reasons.

The show has been in the news for various reasons, including the creation of fake love angles between contestants during the last season, Indian Idol 12.

Many questioned the authenticity of the show.

Mini Mathur says ‘There Is No Longer Real Reality’

Mini Mathur revealed in a recent interview that she quit hosting the show because she felt that it had lost its spirit.

According to her, the show used to focus solely on the contestants and their talents in the past, but the makers started creating moments that she did not appreciate.

In a podcast interview with Cyrus Broacha, Mini Mathur revealed that she was deeply invested in every individual associated with the show.

She even invited contestants over for dinner at her home. However, she couldn’t come to terms with the makers’ insistence on creating fabricated moments in the episodes.

Why did Mini quit the show?

She stated that she realized the authenticity of the show was lost and decided to quit hosting the show.

Mini Mathur hosted the first six seasons of Indian Idol, and she felt that after that, it was just a matter of making money. She also expressed her disappointment in the fact that reality had become constructed rather than genuine.

Mini Mathur shared that before she quit the show, the makers requested her to create moments featuring Hema Malini and Dharmendra.

She recalled the producers approaching her and saying, “Abhi woh Dharam ji aur Hema aa rahe hain, unka moment karna hai.”

However, she did not agree with the idea of creating moments for the sake of it and asked them to leave it to her experience to create something that would move the guests genuinely.

Mini Mathur also stated that she faced similar situations in other shows as well, not just limited to Indian Idol.

Director Kabir Khan is Mini Mathur’s husband. Mini was the former host of Indian Idol.

Her last appearance was in the web series, Mind the Malhotras.
