Lahore Court Rejects Nazish Jahangir’s Bail Request in Fraud Case

On Friday, a district and sessions court in Lahore rejected actress Nazish Jahangir’s pre-arrest bail application due to her failure to attend the hearing. The petition followed an FIR filed by actor Aswad Haroon, accusing Jahangir of fraud.

The court dismissed her bail plea on grounds of “non-prosecution,” citing repeated absences by Jahangir and her legal representatives.

Nazish Jahangir, known for her role in Tohmat, had filed for pre-arrest bail in response to the fraud allegations, asserting that the FIR was lodged with “malicious intent” to tarnish her reputation and harass her.

The FIR, registered under Section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code, accuses Jahangir of deceitfully borrowing Haroon’s car and Rs2.5 million for a project. According to Haroon, despite the passage of six months, she has not returned either the vehicle or the money.

In her petition, Jahangir claimed that her arrest would subject her to public embarrassment, which prompted her to seek bail.

Haroon further alleged that Jahangir had agreed to return the car’s documents at a farmhouse meeting. However, instead of showing up, she sent a man named Sikandar Khan, who allegedly threatened Haroon with violence and warned him against contacting her in the future.

Haroon has since urged the authorities to take action, retrieve his property, and ensure his safety.

Both Jahangir and Haroon starred in the 2023 telefilm Aatish-e-Ishq alongside Saba Faisal.
