Jannat Mirza Becomes First Pakistani Celebrity to Hit 25 Million Followers on TikTok

Jannat Mirza, Pakistan’s leading TikTok star, has surpassed all prominent actresses in social media fame, amassing an impressive 25 million TikTok followers.

This achievement makes the 26-year-old actress the first Pakistani celebrity to reach this milestone on any social media platform.

TikTok, a short-form video hosting site, has soared in popularity since its launch in 2016, boasting over 1 billion active users worldwide.

Jannat celebrated her success by sharing a screenshot of her TikTok account on her official Instagram story.

“Reaching 25 million followers on TikTok is a huge milestone for me. I am extremely happy,” Jannat wrote in her post.

Addressing her TikTok “family,” she added, “To all my 25 million followers, I love you all very much.

Hania Aamir is the most popular Pakistani actress on social media, with over 14 million Instagram followers, closely followed by Ayeza Khan, who also has 14 million followers.

In addition to her TikTok fame, Jannat Mirza has over 5 million Instagram followers and 222,000 YouTube subscribers.

Jannat Mirza’s rise to fame underscores the growing significance of social media stars in Pakistan, often outshining established superstars in popularity and reach. Her success highlights a shift in how audiences engage with content and personalities, favoring the immediacy and accessibility of platforms like TikTok.

TikTok’s addictive algorithm and creative approach to content discovery, which offers a personalized feed based on user behavior and preferences, have been pivotal to its success. The platform’s influence extends beyond entertainment, reshaping how a generation views the world.

In July 2021, Pakistan’s government banned TikTok, citing “immoral and indecent” content on the platform.

The suspension followed multiple complaints about the app’s content and three warnings issued by the country’s telecommunications authorities for TikTok to moderate its content.

The ban was lifted in November 2021 after TikTok agreed to filter content in compliance with local laws.
