Has Ali Zafar joined PML-N? Singer Clarifies Rumors

Ali Zafar’s wardrobe choices for his Toronto concert caused controversy yet again. This time, people questioned which political party he supported. He woke up to a flood of hate messages asking if he supported a party that had left many people “homeless” and “broke” in his home country.

On Monday, Zafar clarified on Twitter that the jacket he wore was a gift featuring symbols of multiple political parties. He also stated that he only wore it during the soundcheck.

He expressed that the chaos was unnecessary and there was no truth to the rumors that he had joined any political party.

“Firstly, I was wearing a red jacket at the concert in Toronto last night. The much talked about the image is in the hoodie I wore at the sound check before the concert from a brand named ‘Raasta’ that uses local symbols and desi catchphrases for aesthetic purposes,” he further added.

He added:  “The same hoodie had a balla (bat) and a teer (arrow) also. I just wore it casually as he’d sent a gift. Next time banyaan bhee soch ker pehnoon ga :)”

Netizens Reaction

Zafar’s justification was rejected by a Twitter user who criticized him for representing a “heinous criminal party.” The user stated that his explanation was not acceptable, and the symbols of the jacket cannot be laughed off as a “crap explanation.” They pointed out the actions of the PML-N and the current government, which they believe have caused harm to the people of Pakistan.

Another user  Tweeted:

“Going to unfollow you on wearing a hoody of imported govt where people are dying and there are no human rights. You have to be ashamed to support such parties who torture people on their political differences. Lakh lanat”
