Florida Airport Experiences Unusual ‘Ground Traffic’ Events

A 10-foot alligator was spotted wandering the tarmac at Orlando Executive Airport, making its way toward a grassy area. The unusual sighting was captured on video by a passenger aboard a moving plane.

Witnesses described the large gator as casually navigating through the aircraft before heading towards the grass next to the runway, according to UPI. As the alligator made its way, an airport employee appeared at the end of the video to guide the reptile out of the way of airport traffic.

What stood out about the incident was the staff member’s nonchalant approach, as if encounters with alligators were a regular occurrence at the airport.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) notes that alligators can be found in all 67 counties across the state. Interestingly, female alligators typically do not exceed 10 feet in length, while males can grow much larger.

The state record for alligator length belongs to a male measuring 14 feet 3.5 inches, captured from Lake Washington in Brevard County, Florida.
