Drama writer Khalil-ul-Rehman Qamar seeks recovery of his belongings in honey trap and ransom case

ISLAMABAD: Famous drama writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has filed a request for the return of his belongings in connection with the honey trap and kidnapping for ransom case.

Judge Arshad Javed of the Anti-Terrorism Court heard Qamar’s application, which stated that the police had recovered Rs 240,000 and the registration book of his car from the accused.

He further claimed that the suspects had withdrawn money from his bank account using his ATM card. Qamar requested the return of his money and the car’s registration documents.

The court has issued a notice to the prosecution regarding his request and has asked for a response by September 28.

Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, along with the main accused, Amna Arooj, and co-accused Hassan Shah and Rafiq alias Feki, remains in jail on judicial remand in the honey trap and kidnapping for ransom case.

On July 15, 2024, the renowned Pakistani scriptwriter was allegedly abducted and robbed in Lahore. He reported the incident to the police on July 21, after being released following the payment of a ransom.

Qamar claims he was lured to Amna Arooj’s home under the guise of discussing a drama project, but his lawyer alleges that he was instead kidnapped by armed men.

In contrast, Amna Arooj’s lawyer argues that Qamar’s manager initially contacted Amna for professional reasons, but the interaction became personal, with Qamar allegedly making inappropriate demands. According to her lawyer, Qamar insisted on a second meeting, arrived intoxicated, and pressured Amna for a physical relationship, threatening to leak photos if she refused.

Hasan Shah, allegedly the mastermind, then reportedly kidnapped both Amna and Qamar, though the details of what transpired remain unclear. Amna later accused the police of torturing her and forcing her to claim the incident as a honey trap. The case is ongoing, with significant developments expected.
