Punjabi music sensation and actor Diljit Dosanjh has made a bold statement, announcing that he will no longer perform in India until the country addresses the poor state of concert infrastructure.
During his performance in Chandigarh on Saturday night, Dosanjh paused to speak candidly about the issue, which quickly went viral on social media. Speaking in Punjabi, the singer of “Lover” expressed his frustration, saying, “India lacks the proper infrastructure for live shows. This is a significant revenue-generating sector that supports many livelihoods, and it’s high time the authorities prioritize improving it.”
He went on to stress the importance of better concert setups to enhance the experience for fans, suggesting a central stage design with the crowd surrounding it. He added, “I will not perform here until things improve. Instead of causing trouble for us, focus on fixing the infrastructure.”
Diljit’s statement has sparked widespread discussion about the state of live event management in India, especially as the music and entertainment industries continue to grow rapidly.
As part of his ongoing Dil-Luminati Tour, Dosanjh is scheduled to perform in Mumbai next, with the Indian leg of the tour set to conclude in Guwahati on December 29.
