Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda has been hospitalized following a leg injury sustained at his home. According to Press Trust of India, citing the Mumbai Police, the injury resulted from an accidental discharge of his own revolver.
At 60 years old, Govinda is currently receiving treatment at CritiCare Hospital and is reported to be out of danger.
His manager has confirmed that the actor is doing well. The incident occurred around 4:45 AM as Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata. Authorities are investigating the matter and have seized the weapon involved.
Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, spoke to the media about her husband’s condition, stating that he is stable and undergoing treatment. She was in Kolkata at the time of the incident but is now en route to Mumbai to be by his side.
Shashi Sinha, Govinda’s manager, provided further details to ANI, explaining that the actor was trying to place his licensed revolver back in its case when he accidentally dropped it, causing it to fire.
Fortunately, the bullet has been removed, and Govinda is expected to make a full recovery.
Police have confirmed that no formal complaint has been filed regarding the incident, which will likely remain under investigation. The situation has raised concerns about firearm safety, especially among public figures.
