The upcoming DreamWorks Animation film ‘The Wild Robot’ made a significant impression at the Annecy Animation Festival, where director Chris Sanders presented two extended clips that stirred a range of emotions among attendees.
Featuring a stellar voice cast including Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, and Kit Connor, ‘The Wild Robot’ tells the story of Roz, a robot stranded on an uninhabited island who must learn to connect with wary animals.

The first clip brought laughter as Roz explored her new environment, while the second, more poignant clip depicted Roz forming a bond with Brightbill, an orphaned gosling voiced by Kit Connor. This emotional scene moved many in the audience to a standing ovation for Sanders.
Sanders expressed optimism about the film’s progress, stating, “We are almost finished – we are very, very close,” emphasizing their aim to imbue the CG-animated film with the “analog warmth and soul” of hand-drawn animation.
DreamWorks Animation president Margie Cohn conveyed her confidence in the film, declaring, “We think it’s a DreamWorks classic in the making, and we hope you do, too.”
‘The Wild Robot’ boasts a supporting cast including Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Mark Hamill, Catherine O’Hara, Matt Berry, and Ving Rhames. It is scheduled for release in theaters on September 20th. The enthusiastic response from the audience suggests it could be a heartwarming hit upon its release later this year.
