Aagha Ali
Pakistani actor Aagha Ali recently aired grievances about feeling excluded from a significant portion of the media industry, alleging a lack of acknowledgment for his work.
During a candid discussion on a YouTube podcast, he revealed his disillusionment with award shows, citing minimal recognition throughout his nearly two-decade-long career.
Expressing frustration, Ali recounted instances where his dramas garnered record-breaking TRPs without corresponding award nominations.
Despite his desire to participate in award ceremonies, he highlighted feeling disheartened by what he perceives as industry indifference towards his contributions.
“The year my dramas achieved unprecedented viewership, I wasn’t even nominated. I don’t attend award shows merely to applaud; however, I do entertain the idea, but I’m disheartened by this aspect of the industry that doesn’t acknowledge me, though I acknowledge them,” lamented the 37-year-old actor.
Ali disclosed his involvement in approximately 100 dramas, juxtaposing this prolific output with receiving only a solitary award.
Asserting his independence from industry cliques, he emphasized the significance of public validation, citing an award bestowed by his audience.
Reflecting on past conflicts within the media sphere, Ali recalled a disagreement at an awards ceremony in 2014, where he took a stand and exited the event.
Critiquing certain individuals’ attitudes in the industry, he remarked, “There are some people in our country who think they’re superior to others and beyond reproach.”
Addressing concerns about the Pakistani film industry, Ali scrutinized casting choices and performance standards.
He criticized the trend of featuring actors lacking in essential skills, attributing several movie failures to this practice.
“Many films failed because they cast individuals who lacked dancing abilities and elevated actors who lacked acting prowess,” he opined, highlighting systemic issues within the cinematic realm.
